This publication is dedicated to the life and creative work of Elena Borisovna Novikova - talented architect and teacher, author of a number of scientific works, professor at the Moscow Architectural Institute from 1946 to 1996. Her ancestors on the maternal side were large textile manufacturers Khludov and Naydenov.
The book is comprised of a chapter from E. Novikova’s book “Public building interiors. Artistic issues” (Moscow, Stroyizdat, 1991), chapters about childhood and youth memories from E. Novikova’s book “Chronicle of five generations. Khludovs, Naydenovs, Novikovs …” (Moscow, publishing house “Twins”, 1998) and chapters from E. Novikova’s scientific research (prepared in 1956 and presented in this publication for the first time) based on her dissertation “Research on Tower architecture” and illustrated with photographs and 26 analytical tables.
The book also contains memories of her son, Sergei Barkhin, her daughter, Tatyana Barkhina, her friends and students, as well as statements from famous architects about E.B. Novikova.
