11, Timur Frunze Street, Moscow
Architects – A.V.Ginzburg, N.B.Shilova, B.V.Fadeev, L.I.Frolova, designer I.Fadeev
2003-2005 – Architectural concept; Realization
The workshop was located on the territory of the Krasnaya Rosa factory (the former Giraud weaving factory) and the project was tasked with solving two problems: adapt a cold attic without transport connections, separated from the street by a roof on rotten purlins, and to organize an entrance to it. The reconstruction process preserved the whole space as a single hall while wooden trusses supporting the roof visually divide the area into relatively private cubicles convenient for work. In the center of the hall, there is a passage running along the massive vertical elements of the rafter system. Bathrooms, kitchens and an open meeting room were organized on one side, with a reception area and cloakroom on the other, all under the end slopes of the roof.
