The main house of Dolgorukovi-Bobrinskie's estate is a monument of traditional low-rise Moscow buildings of Moscow from the second half of XIX century.
This low, brick mansion with late classisism style facades is located in a district next to Pushkinskaya Square. The firewall connects the house to the famous constructivist building of the newspaper Izvestiya and creates a vivid but harmonious contrast - old Moscow neighboring new.
The house was in a critical condition. Wooden slabs were replaced with concrete ones during the restoration, brick walls and white stone bases were cleaned of salt and covered with a hydrophobic compound. The main staircase and part of the second floor interiors were restored including the brick steps, insertings in pilasters, and stucco decoration. The timber roof above the stairs was also recreated according to samples.
The estate's restoration was a phase of comprehensive work for Ginzburg Architects in Pushkinskiy quater. Preserving the diverse, uniquely Moscow environment that has developed in this part of Moscow, from revenue houses to constructivism, is a professional challenge for the studio. The restoration portfolio completed by Ginzburg Architects includes the restoration of the Izvestia newspaper building, the revenue house of M. M. Tyulyaeva, and the house of book publisher I. D. Sytin.
