The house of brigadier Andrei Petrovich Sytin is a rare monument to the lost wooden architecture of pre-fire Moscow.
As regulations by the city dictated the overall size of buildings and their facades, this building is typical for its time. The frame was covered with timber and painted while the facade was decorated with moulding / stucco. The characteristic layout, which has survived to this day, includes front enfilades, living quarters and utility rooms. In the basement, there are stone chambers with vaults dating from the late XVII century.
The restoration process included the repair of the frame and the reclamation of the windows on the ground floor, which had been blocked up in the 1980s. The remaining authentic elements of colonnade and moulding / stucco were also restored and those that were lost, recreated.
By the time of restoration the interiors alsmost didnt remain. From the authentic remained elements there are figures of caryatids decoration the interior. Windows, framed doors, central stairs were meticulously recreated Irestored) basing on remained technical drawings. The stoves were saved, they were recreated in 1980s using historical tiles.
White stone floor and brick vaults of chambers of XVII century were opened, the modern repairment of the brickwork can me identified by colour.
